Gary was kind to the bone and a joyful person. His grandparents lived by me, so when his parents would come for a visit we kids would all play together through three backyards--good times. We stayed connected through school and after we graduated he always remembered my birthday. I worked with his mom at the Legislature for several years and always asked how Gary was and to tell him hi from me. I am so sad he passed. I only just learned of it today. God bless you, Gary! Mary Gabelhaus (Randolph)
Gary was my best friend from the day we started kindergarden (at Southeast) and through college and we recently have been in touch again. We had plans to meet in Omaha this fall. He lived a block from us on 40th Street and we played together every day - he was also the first boy I kissed in 1st grade! His sister Lynn was my sisters best friend throughout school. I am so sorry to get this news - he was the greatest guy I knew.
