Roxann Selders

Four Nebraskans killed in Oklahoma LINCOLN (AP)—A Nebraska Department of Roads employe and three members of his family have been killed in a two-vehicle collision in Forgan, Okla. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol identified the dead as Joseph R. Selders, 48, and three of his children, Steven, 11; Roxann, 16, and Kristine Lynn, 10. Mrs. Selders was listed in serious condition at the Beaver County Hospital in Oklahoma following the accident Sunday. Another daughter, Gayle, was reported in satisfactory condition at the same hospital. The highway patrol said the Selders auto was southbound on U.S. 22 Sunday when a semi trailer truck driven by Melvin Poole crossed the center line and crashed head-on with the Selder vehicle.

Roxann was a close friend of mine for many years. She and her sister took piano lessons from my mother. I have kept in touch with Roxann's mom, who re-married and now lives in Colorado close to her daughter Gayle. Even though Roxann did not get to graduate with us, she was a part our class. Thanks to Steve Bridger for his pursuit of putting Roxann's name on the memorial list of classmates.  - Pam Beggs Ballard

Roxann was a classmate that I knew a short time, as I had gotten to know her while at LSE. She was a good friend and classmate, with a heart-warming smile and personallity. I remember seeing her at the Dairy Queen on 48th and Pioneers, where she worked. Always happy and working hard the summer after our junior year. We shared some fun times and she was looking forward to our senior year. It was such a tragedy to have lost such a wonderful family while on a summer vacation. Her friendship will always be remembered in my heart and the memories in those two short years that I knew her.
