LSE ’71 – Where It All Began

LSE 50th Reunion Schedule

Thursday, September 23 – The Reunion Weekend kicks off with the LSE vs. Lincoln East football game on Thursday evening.  A pre-game social event is planned, starting at 5:00 pm with the game kick-off at 7:00 pm. As we are the home team, we will meet in the West parking lot. Look for the LSE banner. Valentino’s pizza, Runzas and soft drinks will be served with a free-will offering for the food. You will need to buy your own game ticket at the gate. Inside the stadium we will have a special seating section for our class.

Please sign-up for the event by checking the appropriate box on our registration form. There is no fee for this event but if you are so inclined to donate to this event prior to the game, there is a donation option on our registration form. If you would like a ride to the game, just check the appropriate box on our registration form and we will set up a carpool for you. A great way to connect to some classmates!

This is a rain or shine event, same as the football game.  It will be a great informal way to start our Reunion Weekend.

Friday, September 24 - Meet and Greet party at the Jasmine Room, at the Grand Manse. Many of you will remember the Grand Manse as the old Federal Post Office, located at 129 North 10th St. It is now a historic building with luxury condominiums, restaurants and a beautiful ballroom.

The Meet and Greet party will be very casual and informal, giving everyone a chance to get caught up in a relaxed environment. Amazing food will be provided from the Venue, a popular local restaurant. Of course, adult beverages will be available at a cash bar. Classmate Dennis Taylor will entertain us with his very special music. Large print name tags will be distributed to help everyone connect a face to a name, which may be tough to do after 50 years or so. The festivities start at 6:00 pm and go to 10:30.

Saturday, September 25 - Lots of fun activities are planned for Saturday including a tour of Lincoln Southeast. If you haven't seen our alma mater in a while, you won't believe what you are seeing. The tour starts at 10:00 am and will feature tour guides from LSE. The changes have been so all-encompassing that we will need the guides to prevent classmates getting hopelessly lost. There is a limited number of places available for the tour so please sign up right away if you are interested. If you need a lift to LSE, please check the appropriate box on our registration form.

We scheduled this earlier in the day so the rest of the day is open for walking/biking tours of Lincoln, golf, or any other activity that suits your fancy. Perhaps reconnecting with some of your LSE clubs, teams or other groups would be the order of the day. Let us know and we would be happy to help you set that up.

The highlight of Saturday will be the 50th Reunion Celebration Party that will be held at our headquarters hotel, the Marriott Cornhusker, one of the nicest hotels in Nebraska. We have reserved one of the ballrooms to celebrate our 50th in style. How else would the class of ’71 celebrate? Again, it will be a casual, relaxed event to allow everyone plenty of time to reconnect and get caught up.  An excellent array of food and a cash bar will be available as well. Special videos will show what our classmates have been up to over the last 50 years, as well as some videos from the “good old days”. The party starts at 6:00 pm and goes to 10:30 pm.

The Marriott Cornhusker  is within walking distance of the Meet and Greet party at the Jasmine Room, the Haymarket District, the University of Nebraska and much more. We have a very small block of rooms reserved at the Marriott for a reduced rate. It would be best to reserve as soon as possible so as not to be disappointed. Marriott allows reservations to be cancelled without penalty up to 48 hours prior to the check-in date so there is little risk to reserving sooner as opposed to later.
