Covid immunizations & the reunion
Posted Saturday, July 17, 2021 03:03 PM

Hi -- I haven't seen any comments regarding the Covid-19 pandemic and concerns in regards to our gathering together to celebrate our 50 year reunion.  I mention this because some of us are traveling long distances and practicing social distancing along the way to stay safe and keep others safe.  My husband and I have had both our Covid-19 vaccinations, but while in Lincoln, I will be visiting my sister who has stage 4 cancer and I'm trying to do what I can to make sure she is not exposed to any viruses through me.  I know this can be a touchy and a politically hot topic to raise in some circles, but it is important and worthy of discussion.   I think more classmates would feel secure in attending the events if they knew the health risks.  Thanks for providing this forum.  ~ Diane Wood Elrick, California

Diane:

Thanks for posting this important topic on our Q & A forum. We have a Reunion Committee meeting coming up the week of July 19 and I will add your comments to the agenda for the meeting.

I would also strongly encourage our classmates to post their thoughts on the forum to help give the committee guidance.

Hope to see you all soon,

Tim

Hi, Tim.  Just a quick reply to the concern.  I really feel that everyone, certainly in our age demographic, is aware of the risks and will make personal choices accordingly.  Other than requesting those who are sick or show possible symptoms  to not attend I think just let it be.  Obviously at an event like this there are going to be tons of hugs, close contact with multiple others as we lean in for converstions, etc.  I'm sorry for Diane's situation but she may want to elect to just visit her sister and contact a few specific friends to visit with in a safer environment.  Lookiing forward to it!  Chris Stover
