November 20th,   1970   Gubernatorial  Election Disappoints SE Students, including senior Dennis Taylor.  He said “It’s the biggest mistake Nebraska has made in long time.  Exon was elected by the same people who think Spiro Agnew is the savior of our country.”  Senior Eric Matteson felt that the next four years would  hold  little in the way of liberal progress.  In other front page news the Police Force Has Varied Image with Young People and Accent Politics wraps up with Accent Bills To Be Sent to Congress.  A Seminar Sets Mood For ‘Diary’ as the Cast Hears Mrs. Anne Modenstein  ( mother of senior Sue Modenstein) talk about her experience in a concentration camp during WWII.  Although she originally had about 150 relatives Mrs. Modenstein now figures her relatives number six.  Two of those six live in Russia and are not seen so the number is more like four, she said.  Senior  Tom Mulgrue’s  invention, Plastic Clackers Require Patent --- and liability insurance in case of injury.  Mr. Baum said “I think they might be a great toy for outside.”   Seniors Mark Lutz, Ron Hinrich, and Barb Chapin prepared an Oriental dinner for Jean Ragnow’s Asian studies class.  Featured were nine ducks, fresh from senior Steve Guenzel’s recent hunting trip.  After dinner a group from the class presented a Kabuki play, organized by senior Jody Andrews.  229 Students taking Pass-Fail Grades, Fewer Than Expected as the new system goes into place.  In display ads, Weaver’s Potato chips… they’ll   tickle your taste, Bud!  and I Got My Spare Tire at Conroy’s Bakery in Rathbone Village. In sports news, Thompson Leads Team to Record Grid Season with the Knights winning the city championship   and a second place Nebraska ranking.  In the final game, against Beatrice, senior Egbert Thompson racked up two goals to tie and in the last 46 seconds, senior Doug Deeter ran it in for the win,   21-14.   Knight Gymnasts Sweep District Meet, with States yet to come.   Good luck to everyone, including senior Jim Daniels!   In display ads… Set Your Type Right at Blooms Typewriters and STEPPENWOLF IS COMING!  Saturday night, Pershing Auditorium Nov. 21, 1970 $3, $4 and $5.  BE THERE!!

Another great blast from the past. I enjoyed it tremendously and it brought back a lot of great memories. I remember that Beatrice game particularly.
