In Memory

Donald Barth

Donald Dene Barth, 71, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Don was born on April 4, 1953, in Lincoln, Nebraska, to Donald and Mary Barth. He grew up in Lincoln and spent much of his time at Lake Waconda. He attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for undergrad and Creighton University for Pharmacy School where he became a third generation pharmacist, following in his family’s footsteps. Don spent 40 years as a pharmacist including owning Loveland Pharmacy for almost 20 of those years.  During his career, he also served as a preceptor for Creighton University students on rotation from pharmacy school.

Don was known for keeping an impeccable movie collection, playing video games, and cheering on his Denver Broncos. He found immense joy in time spent with family and friends, and he always loved a good game, especially if it was Trivial Pursuit. He was the ultimate gamer and ambassador for fun, but he was also a source of strength for everyone who knew him as he was always your biggest fan.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Maureen (Delaney) Barth; children: Ryan (Laura) of Reston, Virginia,  Kelly (Carly) of Omaha, Tim (Stephanie) of Omaha, and Dan (Kaitlyn) of Omaha; his sister, Lonna (Fred) Peterson of Madison, Wisconsin; along with his ten grandchildren – Nora, Molly, Teddy, Delaney, Benjamin, Josephine, Amelia, Douglas, June, and Jack; the Fab Five; cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Mary (Hester) Barth; and his sister, Donna (Barth) Schoenfeld.

I first met Don when we were very young as our Dads were good friends in college. He was a good friend, fun to play golf with and just a good, normal guy. Rest in peace old buddy.

Don was such a great friend, always smiling and kind. We spent so much time together, especially as undergrads in college. We kept in touch for many years, always reminiscing about our "good old days." We both then had a number of kids and slowly lost touch. But I know that all who remember Don will remember the happy, smiling buddy that he was—my deepest condolences to his family.

Donnie grew up nearly across from me in the Ridgeway Road gang of kids that included his two cousins Gary and Terry. Growing up we spent endless hours playing football (both electric and otherwise), baseball, and tree climbing in the Park behind his house with all the kids in our hood. I also went with Donnie to Lake Waconda where we water skied and sailed. Shockingly... while writing this I think I just remembered his old phone number(488-4004)? I believe these memories are etched in us for life. Don was a huge part of those for me.
