Eric Matteson Matteson

Life has been good to me since graduation. The best thing I did was to marry my wife Herta (July 4, 1975), whom I met while in my junior year at UNL studying abroad in Germany. We have enjoyed traveling, birdwatching, and volunteer medical work at home and abroad, among our activities. Professionally, I am a rheumatologist and epidemiologist, and am head of the Division of Rheumatology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, and Professor of Medicine there. I was President of the Rheumatology Research Foundation of the American College of Rheumatology. I recently retired, but still keep busy with research in various aspects of epidemiology and pathobiology of rheumatoid arthritis and vasculitis. Herta is involved in international activities, and is the outgoing chair of the International Affairs Committee of the City of Rochester. We are working in New Zealand as an into into retirement, through APril of 2019.
