I first became acquainted with Dennis at Merle Beattie; probably in the first or second grade. We had what I would describe as a like/hate relationship because one Halloween I was out trick or treating on our street--Woods Blvd.--and Dennis stole my candy bag! I reminded him of this traumatic incident before one of our class reunions. Maybe our 40th?  I looked forward to seeing him and when I entered the Roccoco Theater I saw Dennis and his wife sitting in a booth and went over to say hello. Lo and behold he had a pile of Milky Ways waiting for me. It was a lovely way to rekindle our friendship. Dennis, I hope you find unlimited sweets wherever you are. ♥️

Dennis was a wonderful person and muscian. We spent noon hours at LSE discussing the state of the world, and stayed connected over the years though his career, and later as his health and his vision declined. One of my now enduring treasures is the gift of his Daysteam album. He made his world a beautiful place.

Dennis lived on Woods Blvd, 2 blocks from me, when I was in grade school and junior high, close to DeAnn Nuernberger and Roger Seuss.

One of the summers, maybe 1967, Dennis and Scott Colburn put together a 4 piece garage band that could play all the 1960s hits really well. Every night that summer they would be performing in Dennis' garage, usually until dark or the parents said that it had gone on long enough.

Dennis was a talented musician his entire life. He'll be missed.

I've know Dennis since grade school. I always remember when he got his first electric guitar. It was a Silvertone and it had an amplifier in the guitar case!  How cool was that ?  Dennis was a kind soul and was passionate  about his music.  He taught many students the joy of the guitar.  Heaven will welcome your talent my friend.

Dennis and I reconnected when he posted that classic peace symbol photo from The Shield on Facebook years ago.  We chatted several times, and all of a sudden I was the proud owner of his CDs.  I still enjoy listening to them and remembering the special way he had with the guitar.  If you have a minute, look at the photos he posted here; several are photos of pure joy!  RIP, my friend.

Dennis and I weighed about the same amount, in Junior High and/or  LSE. When we got to the wrestling phase of PE, we had this "unspoken pack' that we would 'challenge',  each other as we were in same 'weight class'...He would always just roll over and I would "pin" him. In those moments, I learned, and stil believe,  he was the 'gentliest and humblest  giant' of us all!

Dennis was my very first date in 9th grade.  We went to the Christmas ball at the Lincoln Country Club.  His Dad drove us and picked us up.  He was so nice and I think I wasn't very excited about it, but I was always taught to accept the first invitation.  We were classmates at Southeast and drifted apart over the years.  We later connected and reminised about that special evening.  He was a special person and I loved his music.  I feel so blessed to have a CD he made several years ago.  I just love it.  He and I favored the same number on the CD.  I will forever enjoy his music.
